About Us
Who are we?
WAY aims to support young widowed men and women as they adjust to life after the death of their partner – whether that was a month, a year, or ten years ago.
WAY was founded in 1997 and now has around 1,500 members across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Read more…
“I felt so alone until I met others in WAY…
they understand how hard this is.”
What do we do?
We have lively social groups that meet up throughout the year – for drinks, meals out, walks and picnics. We organise weekends away for adults and families, go camping, have parties and offer an alternative social life that does not revolve around couples.
All our groups are run by volunteers who are WAY members, which means everyone you meet in WAY will understand something about what you’ve been through.
Despite our grief, WAY members do know how to laugh and have fun. Supporting each other is a great way to learn to live again after the trauma of watching a loved one die. Watch our film to find out more…
“WAY to me means never having to
explain myself and not feeling like a round peg
in a square hole when we are together”
What our members say
Our members say the support they get from others who really understand their situation is vital as they rebuild their lives following the death of a partner. Read more of what they say about being part of WAY…
